Ostensibly a how-to guide for the nonagenarian, I thought it would secretly be a blend of philosophy and memoir.

He's a very intelligent man, more liberal than you'd expect from someone of his age and active in rights movements even now.

The audio book is read by the man himself and I'm so glad it was!

Basically he repeats keep moving numerous times and I get the point...I'll try to get a walk in a bit....but I was hoping for more specifics.

COVID update: Keep Moving has updated their hours and services. He mentions some of his early career stuff like Mary Poppins and his sitcom, but his stories are mostly current since that's when he's old. There's a lot of interesting anecdotes in this book, that were not in his memoirs. Let’s face it, 2020 is making us long for other timelines.

Mildly entertaining, since he's such a charming character, and the audiobook narration was pretty good. Like Stan Lee and Betty White, he must live FOREVER.Dick Van Dyke's positivity is truly infectious. What I got instead was rambling and aimless Hallmark dreck, including such gems as "That Old Senility" set to the tune of "I was not prepared for how terrible this book would be.

He came off as an egomaniac at times and a bit spoiled and above the common man. It's all good though! I know a few of these wet-blanket types and the way they react to someone with outpourings of joy, and this is book would most likely incite them to loud mutterings.I have always liked dick van dyke.

He's pretty honest about having to fill the chapters, but I still enjoyed hearing his take on history, etc. I get it, heI should have quit when he spent two minutes describing how to make a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, but I'm incapable of abandoning books. Um Dick, hate to break it to ya, but sleeping pills are drugs. What I got instead was rambling and aimless Hallmark dreck, including such gems as "That Old Senility" set to the tune of "The Bear Necessities" and a grade-card of historical events in Van Dyke's lifetime (spoiler alert: Hitler, the Kennedy assassination, and the 9/11 attacks each got an F).
The book is also an interesting view on the lives of real people in show business, humanizing an industry that often seems remote and over-idealized.I was gonna say "Would that we could all be so wise, cool, loving and kind" but I think Mr. V would say we all are in our own way and it's never too late for self improvement!

He definitely is interesting enough to qualify as my fantasy Grandpa. It also made me want to go back and watch the Dick Van Dyke show and Mary Poppins again! He makes the idea of getting older something to look forward to; not dread! I’ve admired the way he managed to ‘Step in Time’ for as long as I can remember, so it’s a pleasure to read it from the source. However, there was no info on what he does at the gym. It's a mix of memoirs, anecdotes, a day in the life of Dick, interviews with other old comedian type guys, and collections of "tips and truths" about getting old. 5 out of 5. Its like a mini memoir/advice book.
