Last thing: check out the basement restaurant of the Dobbin House in town. The confederate soldiers who had field camps and 3 confederate field hospitals on this property have NOT abandoned post. This has to be one of the most beautiful and vast places I've ever been to and continue to visit on a regular. One of the most historic trails in the country. After your investigation, sit around the fire pit and share your experiences and any evidence you may have captured. We are all friends and family and the best part about being in the paranormal field is UNITY. Did this hike in the evening and trail was almost empty until you get to Monument row where there were still a lot of vehicle tourists there. Historic, beautiful, fun. I've been there a lot of times and it's a place you cannot get enough of! Nice to get around the park, but cant see doing this one again anytime soon. This is a MUST while in Gettysburg. A small area goes into high grass with a narrow path. Great American Rail-Trail. Terry and Amanda are great hosts. I went in the summer, and would recommend a good insect repellent (ticks), good sunscreen as many of the areas are cleared and not shaded, and bring lots of water and snacks for extra energy when you need it. Come investigate with us on an 8 acre trail of a Confederate Camp! Can't wait to get back there again with the kids now that they are older. Be sure to venture to the top of the PA monument to get a great view of the battlefield. Not labeled well. Gettysburg Trail is a 2.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. I saw horses on the trail but the riders were very polite, and no issues. Highly recommend! I'm an intermediate hiker and had an outstanding time, the only real challenge was the length of the hike and elevation on Big Round Top; but overall I'd recommend it. Look no further for things to do in Gettysburg, Pa! Don’t go in tall grass because of ticks. Great food and unforgettable atmosphere of you like history. Very educational trail! Thank you again. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. As of late 2018, about one-third of the network, including 3 offroad segments, have been completed. The only part that we walked thru a short field section, I got 6 ticks leading and my wife got 3. Gettysburg Train Rides and Museums If you have a train hobby or know someone who does, the Gettysburg train rides and museums should be part of your Gettysburg vacation! Also some trails on the park map just simply aren't there. When completed, the trail will form a 2-mile, unbroken loop, with additional connections to the North Gettysburg Trail, which extends north along Old US Route 15 to the high school, and the Gettysburg National Military Park Trail, which connects Steinwehr Ave. on the south end of town with the visitor center for the famous national park. Drove part of the loop, and had a great horseback riding tour back through the Confederate side near the site of Pickett's Charge. This was such a great night. Culp's hill was really interesting when you get into the thick of it. I've driven the park many times but this was my first hike of the whole park.
