When you don’t have to worry about words, you can just groove to the music. Hey, a Sugarhill Gang song that isn’t “Rapper’s Delight!” You may not know this one by name, but you’ve heard it and probably danced to it.

If you go to any major team sport event, you’re going to hear music. This one was huge in the ‘90s. What is cued up to celebrate and keep the crowd hyped? Then the drums hit.

This one specifically gets a lot of play at NBA games. The Alan Parsons Project’s song is synonymous with the Chicago Bulls. A new song was needed to play during player introductions, and Fort Minor provided people with one.

Whether it’s a basketball game or a Gob Bluth magic performance, you are likely to hear the opening strains of Europe’s “The Final Countdown.” It’s infectious and catchy, not to mention full of energy. Or you can play it before any big shot.

Yeah, we know. © Bruce Glikas/Bruce Glikas/FilmMagic "We are excited about this year’s new collaboration with Carrie, including scenes in the recording studio, and look forward to uniquely incorporating the game’s great fans," Tripp Dixon, creative director of the SNF show open, said in a press release, via "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" is a re-work of Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You," and the rock icon was featured in the 2019 spot for Thurs. Fans also love to sing along to the chorus, which is right there in the title of “We Will Rock You.” It’s not just Detroit where you can hear Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” It’s a song about leaving it all on the line...about having just one shot.

Take, for example, Kriss Kross’ “Jump,” which could have made the cut too. Dubstep may not be your thing, but you don’t have to listen to a whole song. All rights reserved. Do the words “Jump on it!” ring a bell?

NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” plays a carefully selected, eclectic mix of pop and indie music during “bumpers,” the short slices of airtime when the show is transitioning to and from commercials.

It’s the one sports of the “Big Four” leagues that plays music during in-game action. Maybe you’re just a city boy born and raised in South Detroit (not a real place, but we won’t quibble).

You can still hear Darude’s synth rock instrumental song on occasion though. Some sports feature more than others.
